Set in mid-1800 New York City, The Heiress tells the story of Catherine Sloper, a shy and plain young woman who falls desperately in love with a delightful young fortune hunter.
Catherine's father, a successful doctor, disapproves of the match and forbids their marriage. The dramatic question is will Catherine be ruled by her father or will she follow her heart into a marriage with a man who may not be worthy of her love. The Heiress is based on the Henry James's novel, Washington Square.
